Meet Omega School’s Top Student for 2008

yona.gif

My name is Kisige, Yona. My father died when I was very young leaving us alone with our mother. We are three children and I am the second born. After two years my mother left us alone with our grandfather and the bad thing is that my mother also died last year 2008, both of them (parents) died of AIDS.

In my starting school I moved from school to school due to lack of school fees. In 2005 I joined Omega School and I was registered with Rescue African Children and I was very happy to hear that I got a sponsor and I started studying without being sent home for not having school fees and books. I was so happy.

Last year I sat for my Primary Leaving Examination (P.L.E) and am so happy to say that I performed very well and I was the best at Omega School, I got 11 aggregates passing in first division. I will be joining secondary school and it will take me four years to finish this level.

I thank my sponsor for sponsoring me and I thank my teachers for teaching me.

– Kisige Yona –

Yona is one of over 500 students attending Omega School in Buwenge Town. This student’s story is representative of a high percentage of the student population in the country of Uganda. Poverty and disease bring hardships to the families of Omega School students. Though hunger, illness, and death bring sadness into these young lives, news of receiving a sponsorship through REACH brightens the most oppressed life (take a look at Yona’s smile).

Yona’s testimony demonstrates the love and appreciation all Omega School students have for their sponsors here in the USA. Monthly gifts received from sponsors and supporters truly “REACH” these children of Uganda.

REACH is truly a team effort as each person supports this work according to his/her heart’s leading. From the sponsorship of a single child or pastor to large donations for construction of facilities, each gift is significant and is actively making a difference in the lives of the people of Uganda.

Fred’s USA Visit

Plans continue to develop for Pastor Fred’s 2009 USA visit. As Fred travels through CA, NV, TX, AR, and NY, he will be establishing relationships with new sponsors as well as renewing those established on prior visits.

Pray for Pastor Fred as he prepares to preach God’s Word and share his God-given vision for REACH with friends, new and old alike.

Special gifts will continue to be accepted to help pay for Pastor Fred’s travel expenses. Readers are encouraged to pray and send an extra gift for this purpose as led by the Spirit of God.
